Gabriel gorman Psychotherapy

Talking Makes a difference

“The human psyche, like human bones, is strongly inclined towards self-healing.”
John Bowlby

About me, My Purpose & Goal

After years teaching English (ESL) and working as a professional musician, I found my calling in counselling/psychotherapy. I have a Master’s of Arts in Media Production and a second in Counselling Psychology. I am a registered psychotherapist (CRPO) and a member of the Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapists (CAPT).

Entering psychotherapy is not an easy decision. It takes a lot of courage to trust another person with your history, dreams, desires, fears, and problems. Anything that you say in session could easily be said to a mirror in your own home, and yet, it makes a significant difference to say them to another person especially when that person is explicitly there to hear it, understand it, and reflect on it.

No matter your age, personality, or background, talking helps. Coming to a better understanding of your own life and its content opens doors to new possibilities and opportunities that would never have been otherwise possible. Ultimately, my goal is to listen, learn, and provide avenues for growth, understanding, and personal development.

Method

A process

There are no tricks, no easy or quick fixes. Life is complicated and so are the problems that come with it - they deserve to be treated seriously and it may take some time and effort to make lasting improvement. Psychotherapy is a process that has the potential to make great and positive changes to a life, but the most important questions do not start with ‘what’, they start with ‘why’.

Youth counselling/Therapy

In addition to my general practice, I offer special services in youth counselling and psychotherapy. These sessions are specifically for those clients who are adolescent or young adult. The general style of therapy will focus on the common and uncommon problems of youth and the current struggles that arise during this particular period of life (bullying, social media, issues with gender, growing levels of responsibility, screen addiction, substance use, plus mental health counselling).
